Workshop #1.3: Waste Management and achieving the Circular Economy

Circular economy is an alternative to a traditional linear economy (make, use, dispose) in which we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.

Mission

To increase knowledge of the audience on the importance of recycling raw materials into the bio economy and into production processes, its potential for job creation and the creation of a transformed, sustainable economic system.

Target group

Public affairs, sales personnel, engineers, company leaders, board members.

Training results

Knowledge of upcoming EU legislation on circular economy and waste management as well as future investment opportunities.

Required knowledge

A basic knowledge of supply chains, economics or engineering would be helpful but is not necessary.

  • Current requirements and aims of EU waste legislation
  • What is to be expected from the redraft later this year in the context of a move to a circular economy
  • Brief introduction to the bio economy and EU action on innovation
  • The roles of all actors in the value chain of raw materials.
